Depression is nothing but
a depressive disorder that leads to physical as well as mental or emotional
breakdown like fatigue, anger, loss of interest and even suicide. While,
anxiety is a form of disorder that brings about behavioural changes in people
like restlessness, fear, panic etc. Depression often leads to anxiety.
What is Duloxetine?
Duloxetine 60 mg capsule
delayed release is an effective anti-depressant drug that is used to treat
major depressive disorders in adults and general anxiety disorders in both
adults and children. It actually helps to restore the balance of certain natural
chemicals like serotonin and norepinephrine in one’s brain that causes
depression and anxiety. They are oral capsules branded under the name of
Cymbalta.
Dosage
Duloxetine hcl 60 mg
capsule is advisable for adults to treat depression and anxiety. In less severe
cases take 30 mg duloxetine capsule and in very severe cases take 120 mg or as
prescribed. But you should never consume more than 120 mg per day, as it may be
dangerous. Children aged 7yrs to 17yrs, who are suffering from generalized
anxiety disorder can consume this medicine as prescribed. In case of a missed
dose, take duloxetine as soon as you remember it and if it is near to the time
of the next dose then skip the missed dose. But remember never to double or
overdose in order to catch up.
Does Duloxetine schedules it right anytime?
It should be taken as
early as possible in the morning, once you get out of your bed. Duloxetine hcl60 mg capsule should be taken orally from mouth with water. One can take it
with or without meal, as per choice. In case, there is a second dose
prescribed, then it is advisable to take it late in the afternoon or in the
early evening but avoid taking it late at night, since it might interrupt with
your sleeping.
Side effects
The most common side effects are
- Nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth etc.
- Cramps, weakness, headache, hallucination.
- Fatigue, constipation, loss of appetite and increased sweating.
- Diarrhoea, stomach pain and decreased weight.
In very rare cases it causes
- Agitation, tremor and seizures.
- Convulsion, confusion and fainting.
- Vision and skin problems.
- Suicidal tendencies.
Precautions
- Allergic patients must consult a doctor before taking duloxetine.
- Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana as it might make you feel dizzy and drowsy.
- Do not take these pills during pregnancy as it might harm the foetus.
- Breast-feeding women should not take this medicine as it passes into breast milk and might affect the nursing infant.
- Adults with diabetes, pressure, kidney problem, liver disease etc must discuss with a doctor before going through this medication.
- Keep this medicine away from the reach of children.
